As part of reorganisation of its diplomatic network with the aim of strengthening of its diplomatic action, the government of the Republic of Benin, in accordance with the Government Program Action (PAG II) 1996-2005, has decided to etablish in march 2004 an Embassy in Copenhagen, Kingdom of Denmark.

This objective of this opening is not only for the strengthening of the friendships and the fruitful cooperation existing between the Republic of Benin and the Kingdom of Denmark, but especially to bring closer Benin Republic and the others Scandinavian countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland) which with Denmark, contribute largely to official Development Assistance and to the fight against poverty in developping countries, particularly in the least developped countries.

The Embassy of Benin in Copenhagen has started functioning since January 03rd, 2005.

Its main activities focus on cooperation and promotion of Benin in the resident country and in the others countries of its juridiction, notably in the fields of econony, trade, culture, investment and tourism, and on consular affairs.
